Highland communities have been facing climate change, deforestation & water issues. Despite a water management plan carried out by the government, water quality in the region is still a concern: In 2019, only 40.8% of households had access to safe & clean drinking water.
Those ethnic minority groups whose livelihood depends on natural resources are particularly affected.
The project aims to help communities access clean water through participatory water management & protecting/restoring watershed forest areas:
1/ Develop the capacity of community groups incl. women-centered groups & school committees in 4 communities for sustainable management of water for consumption
2/ Restore upstream water sources & develop sustainable ecological mountain water supply systems (Survey data & workshops, water storage, filtration & dissemination) for 628 households.
