Child Aid Doornkop is a community development project through a center established in Soweto in late 90s. It aims to upgrade the center’s infrastructure to secure the quality of skills training programs & number of youth accessing them.
Activities planned:
- Upgrade the computer centre with reliable power sources (Backup generator or solar panels), more computers/printers & new IT programs available to youth (15-36y, >60% females)
- Upgrade Early Childhood Development center (Preschool for 28 children enrolling annually) capacity to train & upskill youth employed or volunteering
- Upgrade & equip the greenhouse for youth training in agriculture & support them in establishing own backyard gardens
- Upgrade Drop in Centre facilities to allow 148 orphans & vulnerable children with school homework, food & hygiene packs, counseling, etc
