The mangrove in Saint-Louis has been suffering from deforestation, urban sprawling, pollution, or wood collecting for energy consumption. Populations living in those areas, especially women, are now vulnerable. The objective is to develop a sustainable management of the mangrove through activities involving women organisations to create an energy distribution network and trainings, biodiversity management, public reforestation campaigns, sensitisation to environmental issues, and promotion of clean & renewable energy sources.
