The initiative, called "Inclusive Trains" will develop a training course in the railway sector, to offer new job opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
November 21, 2022 – The "Inclusive Trains" project, developed together with Fundación Juan XXIII, has been selected among the projects to be funded by the Alstom Foundation this year. This initiative, aimed at improving the employability of people with intellectual disabilities, consists of the development and implementation of a training course in the railway field, offering new job opportunities in the sector, such as assistance on board trains or support staff at stations.
The Alstom Foundation will finance the recruitment of specialised teachers, job coaches, psychologists and administrative support staff. Their role will be to create all the content and deliver the course, which will cover different topics such as the structure and organisation of a railway station, assistance to dependent persons, passenger assistance in English, cafeteria and mobile bar services, as well as prevention and action in emergency situations, among others. The course, which will start in January 2023, will include both theoretical aspects and practical modules in real railway environments.
Every year, the Alstom Foundation invites all Alstom employees around the world to submit proposals for solidarity projects. In this latest edition, the Foundation Board received 235 proposals from 46 countries, setting a new record for participation and making the selection process even more difficult.

Within these proposals, the Foundation selected 33 projects to be financed in 2023, with a total budget of 2.2 million euro. The initiatives have a large scope, with a particular focus on the employability of disadvantaged youth and women, as well as the welfare and education of children.
For its part, the Juan XXIII Foundation is a benchmark in specialised training, active support in the search for employment and training for people in a situation of psychosocial vulnerability. Through the Training Centre for Employment, it offers courses, certificates of professionalism and different trainings at no cost to the student.
With more than 3,000 employees, Alstom in Spain has a long industrial and technological history, including 4 industrial centres, 4 technology sites and a presence in more than twenty maintenance workshops. Among others, Alstom has an industrial plant in Barcelona dedicated to the manufacture of all types of rolling stock, a propulsion systems factory in Bizkaia, and in Madrid, different technological innovation centres for the development of programmes and projects in the fields of railway safety, signalling, maintenance and digital mobility.
