With social enterprise Tubig Pag-Asa, this project will provide essential services in slums through community capacity building and awareness raising such as buying water from a local operator, building networks, managing, billing (adapted rate) and maintaining.

The project aim is to extend the model to three Cebu slums to do the following:

  • Access water through the construction of hand washing stations to ensure protection against waterborne and viral diseases (Covid-19) and carry out hygiene awareness sessions.
  • Address well fire outbreaks (use of charcoal cooking or illegal power lines) and natural disasters (typhoons) through trainings for volunteers and residents to provide civil protection and equipment.
  • Focus on environment and target "at risk" waste management behaviours, raise awareness and inspire through activities (clean-up days, schools and advocacy/coaching of local authorities for behavioural change).
