France: A solution to improve the mobility of isolated and vulnerable young people

  • Status

    Ongoing

  • Location France

Transport represents 39% of total greenhouse gas emissions while mobility is an issue for most precarious & isolated people.

The project aims to implement bicycle loan services for vulnerable youth supported by 15-20 local Red Cross structures (Asylum seeker shelters, centers for unaccompanied children or for disability services) through: Analysis of mobility needs, mapping of actors & solutions already present locally, awareness-raising & assistance with bicycle equipment. The goal is to build a supply chain based on bike recycling through donation partnerships & repairing, organized via solidarity bicycle repair workshops (Implying to train vulnerable people through a socio-professional integration program). Bike-sharing service to be set up also to alleviate the “last mile problem”.
