Egypt: Improving the Protection & Psycho-Social Support of Children in Street Situation, and of Children Victims of Abuse in Cairo

More and more children (and mothers with babies) are on the streets due to poverty, neglect, violence & abuse. The project aims to protect & support those children in street situation, slums & in detention center through:

1/ Reinforced NGO outreach team with 3 groups of 4 social workers working 5 days/week in 6 poor areas. Each group to implement a mix of arts, sports, fun activities to motivate children to join regularly, and to support with hygiene/medical care, psycho-social help/counseling, education, vocational training & employment

2/ Focus on street mothers & babies with specific health & life skills information, baby care (Milk, nappies, medical care) & alternatives to street life (Shelters, employment)

3/ Improved care & protection in transitional homes to adapt to children victims of abuse (4-6y) by recruiting carers & working at family reintegration.
